Cyrus je film o ločencu, ki se bežno spogleduje s krizo srednjih let, saj po sedmih letih ločitve še vedno ni uspel popolnoma pozabiti bivše žene in ima posledično kar nekaj težav pri spoznavanju novih deklet. Je tudi bolj štoraste vrste in njegovi osvajalski pohodi se nemalokrat končajo že na samem začetku. No, vseeno posije sonce, ko spozna prelestno in super simpatično Molly. Iskra hitro zaneti velik požar, ki pa ga spretno in sprotno gasi Mollyjin 22 letni sin. Ta sin je en velik čudak, ki se na vse kriplje trudi odgnati Johna stran od njegove matere.
