Quest for Firepower

Three scantly clad humans emerge from an underground shaft onto the Earth's surface: tough talking Sarge; bald headed male Horst; and Hel a black woman who hears the female Voice through an implant in her jaw. They attract the attention of a heavily armored flying creature called a Bailey, because they want to test out their new high tech weapons, including rocket-firing gauntlets. In the following battle, they capture an arm from the bailey, but they also discover that Horst is a Betrayer robot, sent to infiltrate them and kill them. Exchanging blaster fire with him, the two women jump down a long shaft and use their web launchers to get to safety. Hel takes an injured Sarge to an underground surgeon to get a new kidney from the doctor's supply of cryogenically frozen humans from the 21st century. In the process, one of those patients is awakened. She's Cleopatra, who went in for breast-augmentation surgery in 2001 and ended up in a cryo-tube. Cleopatra learns that the year is 2525; what's left of mankind lives underground, driven there by the alien Baileys. Hel and Sarge fight the machines in an attempt to survive, aided by good robots such as Mauser, who thinks he can reconfigure the stolen Bailey arm into a weapon given enough time.

Creegan

Hel, Sarge and Cleopatra are in the lab with Mauser when Creegan, a Joker type villain, and his mutant minions ambush them. Blasting the robots scientists to pieces, Creegan's gang makes off with Mauser's body parts before the trio can stop them and before Voice can purge him off all top-secret information. As they try to track down Creegan, Hel reveals to Cleopatra that the clown-faced killer was responsible for the death of her own family. When they get close to the lab, Creegan cuts in on Voice's transmission, sending a paralyzing noise into Hel's head. Sarge fights off the mutants while Cleopatra helps cut the receptor out from behind Hel's ear. The trio blast their way into Creegan's headquarters and manage to disconnect Mauser from the villain's computers, thus erasing the data that had been downloading from Mauser's files. Hel goes after Creegan, but he escapes, leaving her without revenge. Later, Mauser is reassembled and Hel's link to Voice is restored.

Flying Lessons

Hel and Sarge are teaching Cleopatra how to fly through the underground shafts when they chance upon a group of Mordecis who are abducting a human girl from the arms of her father. Although the initially refuse to help, Cleopatra appeals to them to be heroes and help rescue the girl. The trio goes to the lower level where the Mordecis go to sell specimens to mutant experimental labs, or to keep them as sexual slaves. The women enter a trader bar where they soon learn that the girl is the slave of a piggish, multiply pierced cretin named Ek. Because they need a diversion, Cleo does an erotic pole dance strip tease, earning Ek's lust. Hel challenges Ek to a game, with Cleo as her bet. They trade slaves back and forth, until Ek gets the bartender to slip an inhibitor into Hel's drink and she loses everything. Hel makes one final bet as herself as the prize and manages to defeat Ek. He's not a good loser though and the mutants attack the women and the freed slaves. But of course, even without weapons, our heroines triumph and the freed humans are slaves no more.

Mind Games

In a mental facility, a powerful telepathic woman, Raina, frees herself by mind controlling her doctor. Meanwhile Sarge, Hel and Cleo have come to a bar in the lower levels: Voice has told Hel to go there, but is now mysteriously silent, so the trio do their best to have an evening of fun until they can figure out their mission. Raina enters the club and reads Hel's mind, learning that she is worried about what's happening to Voice. She approaches Hel and talks to her about Voice, but when Cleo comes over, Raina disappears. Raina next takes control of Sarge's mind and convinces her that Hel is a Betrayer robot. Hel sees a holographic television show that warns viewers about Raina, but she's too late; Sarge attacks her, shooting up the bar. Cleo escapes and goes to find Mauser so that he can build a mind inhibitor to control Raina, but the psychic follows her. Hel is finally able to convince Sarge that she isn't a Betrayer and they go to Mauser's lab to confront Raina. In the battle that insues, Cleo drops the inhibitor on Raina's head, blocking her mental powers. She is re-incarcerated and Voice once again speaks to Hel, cryptically telling her that Raina was once very much like her.

Home (1)

After the trio fights a new form of Betrayer robot modeled to look like someone Sarge once knew they travel to the surface to find the factory where the Baileys create the Betrayers. They find a village of people who are willingly sacrifice themselves to the Baileys, believing that the aliens will take them back to the Mother Planet where they'll be reunited with old friends. Unfortunately the next to be chosen is Lily, Sarge's younger sister. Sarge rescues her sister and the trio go into the woods with Baileys and miniature attack drones firing at them. They escape and come up with a plan; Sarge will take the place of her sister, allowing Hel and Cleo to track her to the Betrayer factory and destroy it. Cleo uses a bunch of old science fiction film concepts to convince Lily (who still believes the Baileys are good) to help them and they return to the village. But at the last minute, Lily senses that Cleo and Sarge lied to her and pushes her sister off the ascension platform. As Sarge and Hel battle the Baileys, Lily is taken into a ship, with Cleopatra hanging on to her.

Rescue (2)

As the Bailey takes Cleo and Lily away, Sarge and Hel try to figure out how to track them. They send a miniature satellite probe into the air to get coordinates for the Betrayer robot factory, but it attracts the attention of a Bailey. The two women are forced into a deadly game of hide and seek, until Voice launches a second probe, which draws the Baileys' attention. They infiltrate the Betrayer factory, in which Cleo and Lily have been strapped down. Human drones take vials of blood from Cleo and Lily, injecting it into vague humanoid forms gestating in nearby chambers. The forms suddenly morph into replicas of the two women and fibers cover the real women's heads, draining their life energy. Thankfully, Hel and Sarge attack, firing at the drones and doppelgangers, creating mass havoc in the Betrayer factory. They set the real Cleo and Lily free and set a grenade to detonate shortly. The four women battle their way into the tunnels blasting Betrayers. Voice tells them to shoot the floor and they drop into an underground shaft just as the Betrayer plant erupts from the grenade explosion. In the underground world, Lily and Sarge reconcile and Sarge promises to help her sister acclimatize to a world under the Earth.

Run Cleo Run

Sarge is on an undercover mission at a mutant bar, pretending to be a stripper while she gets close to the grotesquely obese Sluggo. Inside the chest of the fat mutant is a pod containing the only known map of the entire underground system. Sarge charms her way near enough to attack Sluggo's bodyguards, then reaches into his chest and retrieves the pod. She runs, but a collar around her neck will detonate within ten minutes. In the levels above, Voice tells Hel to send Cleo down below to rescue Sarge, against Cleo's wishes. Mauser helps prepare Cleo by linking the computer to her brain and her weapons gauntlets. Cleo runs through various scenarios in her mind, each of which ends with Sarge's death. Finally, she must leave on the rescue mission, but now she is prepared for each obstacle. Hel follows and although Cleo rescues Sarge, they both need a hand from Hel to finish the mission. And once again, teamwork has won the day.

Choices

It's Christmas in a lower level, an Artificial Surface Environment that is set up as a holographic 21stCentury small town. But a Betrayer robot is killing one of Voice's freedom fighter teams, so Hel, Sarge and Cleo are dispatched to help them. In the snowy climate they find a family with a little girl, which makes Hel homesick (or is that time sick?). They find one team member dead and Cleo makes like a cop to keep the crowds at bay. Later, while Cleo and Hel watch townspeople do a Macarena-like dance, Sarge finds the resistance leader, Xev, who has been badly hurt by the robot. Xev tells them the robot is either the father, the mother of the little girl in the family they've watched, but Voice orders them all to return to the base. Xev goes back to the town to confront the father, who is a Betrayer, but only succeeds in getting himself killed. Sarge has a showdown with the robot and with a little help from Hel, she triumphs. Later, she tells the mother to love her little girl; she knows what it's like to lose a father.

Perceptions

Hel, Sarge and Cleo are on a search and rescue mission to aid the researchers of a hidden resistance facility that has been ambushed. As they go to help the scientists, Hel sees an image of her dead father standing on a landing, just before an explosion blows the wall apart. When the smoke clears, a hidden level of the facility is revealed and the trio hurries to help the trapped researchers. Seeing her father again, Hel follows him into an abandoned laboratory, where she tries to touch him and his body ripples as he morphs into a jelly like holding mechanism crackling with energy. The incapacitated Hel is horrified to find Creegan has captured her, using the holographic image of her father. The villain interfaces with the implant, that carries Hel's instructions from the Voice, and his henchmen begin to trace the signal. Rather than allow Creegan to find the Voice's location, Hel begins a self-destruct sequence in her voice-receptor. Using a grappling device, Hel brings Creegan within the force field, then re-directs the self-destruct command so that it blasts outward. Hel uses the gauntlet to destroy Creegan's equipment before the on Voice can be completed, but although she trades blaster fire with Creegan and his lackeys, they escape. Aided by what appears to be the real ghost of her father, Hel returns to the aid of her femme companions in time to help them rescue the wounded scientists, but she's left with a nagging question: how much does Creegan really know about Voice?

Trial and Error

Two Betrayer droids storm the underground facility on a mission to capture the telepathic villainess Raina. Too bad for them that Hel, Sarge and Cleo are there to stop them, but it's Raina (momentarily freed from a mental inhibitor) who forces the Betrayers to kill each other. Voice sends Raina to the surface with Sarge and Hel to see if she can mind-control a Bailey, while Cleo stays below ground with one finger on a destruct switch that will kill Raina if she attempts to harm her two companions. Raina succeeds in controlling one Bailey, although she jeopardizes Sarge's life while doing so. Cleo gets even more suspicious as Hel, Sarge and even Mauser begin acting strangely, even as Raina communes with (and eventually joins with) a Bailey leader. Although bound by Mauser, Ceo finally manages to trigger the destruct mechanism, releasing toxins into Raina's system. Before the Bailey/Raina hybrid can kill Hel and Sarge, it careers into the ocean and sinks into the depths. Afterwards, Hel assures Cleo that it was the real Voice (not the Raina controlled one) that wanted her in charge of the kill switch, because Voice believes in her.

Double

Cleopatra manages to outwit the female Betrayer, which is pursuing her, then she encounters Hel and Sarge in a bar. Cleo claims that it's taken her weeks to find them after escaping the Baileys (as seen in the previous two-parter), but when the real Cleopatra turns up, the girl surmise that one of the Cleopatras is a Betrayer robot! All of Mauser's and Voice's tests are inconclusive as to which one of the Cleos is real, but a chrono-test reveals that one of them is only 22 days old. Hel and Sarge blast the fake Cleo, but she doesn't regenerate like the Betrayers do. Hel may just have killed the real Cleopatra. The girls and Mauser soon learn the truth; Cleopatra 2 is indeed a Betrayer, but because her programming was disrupted, she is unaware she is a droid, nor is she a danger to them. But as the team studies the slowly regenerating Cleo 2, the female Betrayer who was pursuing her comes calling. Hel and Sarge shoot in out with the amazonian robot, but it's the blasts from the forearms of Cleo 2 that manage to disintegrate the Betrayer. Unfortunately, Cleo 2 is too badly damaged to repair herself, and she says a tearful goodbye to Cleopatra before going off line.

Hel and Cleo follow Sarge on a mission to assist Jake Lawson, a famous Protector of the upper levels. They find him and a man named Jerbo under heavy fire from underworld mercenaries, and they're shocked to find that the cocky Lawson is protecting dozens of barrels of plutonium. As Jerbo struggles to erect a force field to protect the plutonium, Sarge tells Lawson he was her role model... despite the fact that he once shot her. When a relay switch gets fried in a firefight, one of the groups will have to stay behind to activate the force field, but that person will be trapped if they do. Lawson draws the short straw and Sarge kisses him before they mask their escape, leaving him behind. Back in their headquarters, Voice finds an ancient tunnel leading to a crypt with the plutonium. Acting on a hunch Sarge goes back alone, confronting Jake; he planned to sell the plutonium to buy his own underground level. They fight and Sarge shoots Lawson, walking away as he dies.

Hel and Highwater (1)

Voice sends Hel, Sarge and Cleo on a mission to locate the source of a distress call far beneath the ocean's surface. They depart in a mining mole (which Mauser converted into a mini-sub) and dive below, where they face an attack from some sort of shockwave device, high pressure and finally a tractor beam like water current. Their craft soon arrives in an underwater city, whose human inhabitants are the ancestors of a group of ancient environmentalists. Their leader, Schrager and his brother Gragner, grudgingly welcome them, but it's clear they are hiding something. Cleopatra begins hearing the voice of her mother asking for help, while Sarge sets out to find their confiscated gauntlets and get a message up to Mauser and Voice on the surface. Meanwhile, Hel talks to Gragner and he tells her that some of his people are ready to join forces with the surface dwellers, but others (like his brother) are strict isolationists. Hel returns to their quarters to find Cleo missing, and Hel and the re-weaponed Sarge have to track their friend through the city. They find her in a chamber, where her mother's voice led her; in it is a huge Bailey, partially disassembled. Hel and Sarge can only watch in horror as the Bailey sends out an energy tentacle that puts Cleo in a trance.

Hel and Highwater (2)

The season finale of this series finds Cleo speaking as the voice of the disassembled Bailey, which is "dying" because it has been stripped of many of its technological components. Before Hel and Sarge can find out more, Schrager and Grabger arrive with back up. Schrager shoots Sarge in the chest (perhaps mortally wounding her) and the trio of women is locked away in their quarters. Schrager takes a power device from the Bailey and install sit in a doomsday machine he plans to unleash upon the underworld's levels and its human population. Granger returns Hel and Sarge's weapons to the women and helps stabilize Sarge, but her wounds are still too severe. Hel takes Sarge along as she and Cleo head to the main hanger to stop Schrager. In the Bailey's chamber, Sarge dies but the Bailey sends a particle beam down to her, expending its own final life energy to revive her! Sarge, Hel and Cleo vaporize the remains of the Bailey so it cannot be plundered for technology any further and set off to stop Schrager. In the hanger, they engage in a firefight with the isolationist Schrager, and Cleo and Gragner manage to disarm his weapon. Gragner tackles his brother, enabling Hel and Sarge to kill Schrager. The team of women returns to the surface with the power device, and tell Voice and Mauser about the Bailey's heroic sacrifice to save Sarge. Could there be more to the motives of the Baileys than Voice and the others had previously thought?

When Sarge goes to the bar she is met by Slade (hologram) who tells her that if she kills Marla she will get the antidote. Cleopatra drags Lily off as Sarge goes to find Marla. Terrified, Lily tells Cleopatra what happened at the bar and they rush to find Hel. Meanwhile, Sarge enters Marla's quarters and the two women begin to fight. Sarge is about to blow Marla away when Hel, Cleopatra and Lily barge in and convince Sarge to hunt down Slade instead and find the antidote. Later, Cleopatra, enters a Black Watch hangout and approaches a guy named Drake. Cleopatra flirts with him until he gives her a tour of the Black Watch Central. Hel and Sarge track Cleopatra on their gauntlets and they see Slade appear as Cleopatra and Drake prepare to leave. Hel and Sarge race down the shaft while Slade introduces himself to Cleopatra. Slade abruptly seizes Cleo and disarms her tracking device. Suddenly, Hel and Sarge burst in and a battle starts. Slade drops the vial containing the antidote during the fight but Sarge manages to suck it up using her hypodermic needle. They immediately give the drug to Lily and revive her. The ladies attempt to intervene, but the barkeeper throws the guy off a landing and the guy transforms into a Betrayer as he falls down the shaft. The Betrayer is beheaded by a passing rafter and a Scavenger catches his head and downloads its information to the evil mutant Sluggo. Meanwhile, Hel and Sarge find an abandoned baby boy at the tanning salon and figure it must have belonged to the guy thrown from the ledge. They return to Mauser's lab with the child and Cleopatra fawns over him. Mauser generates the baby's hologram in an effort to find his guardians. Later, Sluggo learns from the Betrayer head that the baby has been programmed by the Bailies to be a bomb. Realizing this child can be an asset, Sluggo releases Scavengers to retrieve it. Meanwhile, Mauser locates the baby's guardians and the team heads to the tanning salon to return him. But when the supposed guardians can't produce their Guardian tags, the ladies realize they're dealing with Scavengers. A battle erupts and the team quickly takes the upper hand. The Scavengers confess they were sent by Sluggo to recover the baby after learning that it's a Bailey bomb. Mauser contacts Hel and tells her that the baby has been infused with a cell replication gene mutation that will cause a chain reaction in eight minutes that will make the baby explode. Voice orders them to bring the infant to the surface to detonate it, but the team opts to retrieve the Betrayer head and search for an alternate solution. The trio enters the Scavenger headquarters with the baby. Everyone but Sluggo flees and Hel logs onto the Betrayer head and works with Mauser to diffuse the time-bomb infant. One minute before detonation, Sluggo escapes, swearing to get even, and Sarge shoots one of his arms off. In the final seconds, the barkeeper, who originally helped the Betrayer plant the baby in the tanning salon, bursts in and begins to fight Sarge. Hel and Mauser locate the original mutated cell and a laser from a healing tube erases it. Sarge kills the barkeeper and relief fills the room as everyone realizes the baby has been defused. Brain Drain

Voice sends Hel, Sarge and Cleopatra to a bar to retrieve Jensen Manning, an important Bailey researcher. When they arrive, the team finds Manning standing on the bar, shouting like a madman. Voice soon sends a Confessor, a futuristic shrink, to talk Manning down. Manning suddenly goes into convulsions and dies. An electronic parasite slithers from his mouth and forces its way down the Confessor's throat. The team fends off a group of Betrayers trying to get a hold of the Confessor and return to the lab. Mauser puts the Confessor in a healing tube and runs a full medical diagnostic. They learn that the parasite is a Bailey-engineered data retrieval unit that is downloading everything in the Confessor's brain, which explains why the Betrayers wanted him so badly. The Confessor convulses and dies and the parasite exits his mouth to look for new host. The bug breaks out of the healing tube and invades Hel... The Betrayers from the bar find the lab, but Sarge secures the area before they can enter. Mauser tells Sarge and Cleopatra that the parasite only leaves the host after all brain energy is drained and the host dies. Hel collapses in pain and tells the others that she is inheriting all of the other previous hosts' knowledge... Hel becomes unconscious and Cleopatra suggests they kill Hel before the parasite absorbs any more of her brain, then quickly restart her heart when the bug leaves her body. Mauser puts Hel in the healing tube and shocks her to stop her heart. Hel flatlines and the parasite exits her body and scampers across the floor. Cleopatra and Mauser work to bring her back while Sarge destroys the Betrayers and the bug. Heel is brought back to life and she reveals that she has learned a few secrets about Voice, which she chooses to keep private for now.

Mauser's Day Out

Dressed in a seductive gown, Sarge prepares a romantic dinner for her and Mauser. He enters the lab and reminds Sarge that he's not programmed for sex. She presents a microchip to Mauser that, when inserted into his skull, will bypass certain moral inhibitions. Mauser grants his permission and Sarge injects the chip. The two embrace passionately, but Mauser's excitement quickly turns to rage and he begins to strangle Sarge. She shoves him away and Mauser starts firing lasers from his eyes. Hel and Cleopatra enter the lab and Hel unsuccessfully tries to voice-override Mauser. During this process, Hel learns that Mauser was initially designed to kill. While the ladies argue over Mauser's condition, he escapes and starts to make his way to a secret control center, where a mysterious woman tracks his movements. Meanwhile, Voice nervously guides Hel and the others to Mauser's location. With gauntlets drawn, the three enter unfamiliar territory and realize that Mauser's target is Voice. Mauser transforms into a Betrayer and penetrates a force field in the center, slaying four guards in the process. The team locates Mauser and he reacts to the sound of Sarge's voice. Their next attempt fails anf Voice orders Hel to kill him. Sarge shoots, but Hel disarms her and Mauser escapes. Mauser bursts into the control center and the woman's face is revealed. Convinced they've actually found Voice, Hel is startled to hear Voice transmit over her receptor. When the woman oddly addresses Mauser as Edward, he morphs out of Betrayer form and introduces the team to Cara, the wife he has not seen in 12 years. Mauser explains how the chip Sarge inserted prompted memories of both Cara and his Betrayer life. Suddenly, a Betrayer enters the room and encases Mauser in an energy web. The Betrayer orders Mauser to guide him to Voice and the two disappear. They locate Voice's chamber and Hel, Sarge, and Cleopatra plead with Mauser to stop before Voice's security is compromised. Sarge walks to the path of Mauser's laser fire and speaks firmly to him while the Betrayer breaks into Voice's chamber. But the Betrayer returns and threatens Sarge. Mauser suddenly returns to his old self and the team destroys the Betrayer. Sarge apologizes to Mauser for installing the chip and Hel contemplates entering Voice's lair. The four peek inside the chamber, only to find it abandoned. Hel finds a disturbing picture and the group returns to the Command Chamber. Mauser and Cara share one last embrace while Hel secretly examines the photo of an unfamiliar woman with a man who strongly resembles Creegan without the harlequin makeup.

Cleo is teaching Mauser to play strip poker with a deck of homemade cards. Cleo (looking at Mauser's hand) "Oh, a royal flush not good." Mauser has to remove an article of clothing. Cleo tries to convince Sarge and Hel to join them, but they are busy. Besides, Sarge says, "I've already seen him naked." Voice interrupts to order the team to Housing Level 215 to settle a critical situation. Cleo tells Mauser they'll be right back, so "keep your shirt off." Raina enters the office of Dr. Lim, "Neuro-surgery while you wait". He is apparently the one responsible for programming her so she could read people's minds. Raina reveals a scar on her forehead and says she no longer has those powers and wants them restored. She picks up his "transplane generator", which was created to expand the powers of the mind. Raina plans to use it as a weapon, however. Cleo, Hel and Sarge arrive on Level 215 and are speculating on why Voice wouldn't tell them what the situation there was. Hel says that the last time that happened, they were going up against Raina, and Voice didn't want her to read their minds. Just then they see Raina dragging the doc along the corridor. Sarge: "I don't believe this. What do you have to do to kill this woman?" They surround Raina and are surprised when she doesn't try to use her powers. But then she pulls out the transplane generator and fires it towards Sarge and Cleo. It hits Cleo and vaporizes her into another existence. Hel and Sarge storm the lab and battle with Raina (who got her powers back by Dr. Lim). Cleo manages to distract her by singing " The wheels on the bus ". Raina keeps firing, just missing Hel and Sarge, who are flipping all over the place to avoid the blasts. Finally Hel is trapped under some debris, and Raina aims for her, but Cleo jumps in the way, and the blast brings her back. She kicks the weapon out of Raina's hand and decks her with a right hook to the jaw. Sarge and Hel run to Cleo to celebrate her reappearance. Cleo says it was interesting listening to them talk when they thought she was dead and wants to know whom Dev and Carla were, but Sarge says they will talk about it later.

Mauser is testing a new anti-gravity device designed to capture and hold a Bailey in place. Cleo is the guinea pig. She is caught in a pair of laser beams and suspended a few feet off the floor. Sarge and Hel tease Mauser about some of his devices that didn't work out quite as planned. Cleo is starting to feel a little woozy. Sarge says if it can hold Cleo... Cleo objects, wanting to know if that was a fat joke. Voice interrupts to say that the invention is no joke. They are going to capture a Bailey and Cleo is the key. Aboveground a Bailey approaches Cleo, who is lying on the ground with the energy pod next to her. When the Bailey gets close, Hel and Sarge set off the device that should hold the Bailey in place. It seems to work -- the Bailey is immobilized. But then the device malfunctions, and the Bailey gets free. Sarge yells at Cleo to get out of there. Cleo does, but then realizes that the pod was left behind and goes back for it, dodging blasts from the Bailey. Sarge and Hel cover her. Cleo grabs the pod and runs back, and they all jump down into the escape shaft. Hel and Sarge berate Cleo for going back for the pod. Cleo says they don't leave team members behind. Sarge and Hel are exasperated that Cleo thinks of the pod as a team member, but Cleo says that she feels like she is really a member of the team when she can help them by using it. Suddenly the roof of the shaft is blasted open and the Bailey descends into the space with Cleo, Hel and Sarge. The shaft cannons blast the Bailey just as Hel, Sarge and Cleo leap from it. The Bailey is destroyed. Sarge asks how Cleo broke the force field, and Cleo says it was from them talking to her. She thanks them for bringing her back. Sarge says that Cleo really saved them that time. Cleo says she thinks they saved each other.

Truth be Told

Convinced her father is still alive, Hel ignores Voice's protests and goes to see the one man who can help her in her search Creegan. When Hel is denied access to the prison facility holding Creegan, she shoots a guard with a stun gun and, no longer trusting Voice, uses a laser scalpel to remove her Voice receptor. Alarms go off and Hel realizes that Voice has activated them in an attempt to keep her away from Creegan. Stunning more guards, Hel presses on. She enters Creegan's prison chamber, releases him from his deep freeze, and confidently tells him that her father is still alive. Showing Creegan her removed Voice receptor, Hel promises to turn Voice over to him if he will help her find her father. Naturally, Creegan agrees to the deal. Meanwhile in Mauser's lab, Sarge is awakened by the sound of Voice in her head and is none too pleased that she is the new recipient of a Voice receptor. Mauser shows her and Cleopatra a visual of Hel and Creegan escaping the prison and the ladies depart to locate their friend. Later, Hel and Creegan enter Voice's psionic headquarters and seize the powerful trans plane gun. As they turn to leave, Sarge and Cleopatra appear. Hel, crazed and threatened, trains her gauntlet on them. Noticing the trans plane gun, Cleo reminds Hel that it's the device that once turned her into a ghost. When Voice orders Sarge to shoot Hel and Creegan, Hel uses the trans plane gun first on Creegan, then on herself. The two dematerialize into the psionic plane and escape. Unable to track them, Voice sends Sarge and Cleopatra back to Mauser's lab to await further instructions. Meanwhile, in the psionic plane, Hel and Creegan resurface in a tunnel. Creegan guides them through the ceiling and they land in the center of the Bailey command nexus. They continue to navigate through the command center and come across a man entering data into a hand-held computer. When the man turns to see who's behind him, Hel is shocked to see that the man is her father, Carter who is also trapped inside the psionic plane. She's even more confused by the cold reception he gives her. Creegan suddenly swipes the trans plane gun from Hel and fires it at Carter, causing him to materialize out of the psionic plane. As Betrayers swarm around Carter, Hel retrieves the gun and materializes herself and Creegan back into the real world. She and her father fall into the grips of a Betrayer onslaught and Creegan takes Hel's Voice receptor from her hip pocket. A Betrayer leader (Patrick Griffiths) then approaches Creegan and tells him they received his communication and that he will be rewarded for serving them well. Back at Mauser's lab, Voice and Mauser trace Hel's location to the Bailey command center. Voice tells Sarge that Cleopatra can pass herself off as a Betrayer by using the identification chip from her Betrayer double and enter the complex. Mauser inserts the chip into Cleopatra and she and Sarge take off to rescue Hel. Meanwhile, Hel and her father are taken to a holding chamber. The mood is tense between the two and Carter tries to explain his disappearance. Hel learns that her father was the victim of a freak accident years ago that gave him the ability to materialize in and out of the psionic plane, giving him access to everything. He reveals that the Bailies are organic creatures that achieve sentience by absorbing human neural tissue, which explains why they won't exterminate humans. He also tells Hel he has supplied information to Voice that has been beneficial to her and her team. Later, Creegan makes a deal with the Bailies in which he exchanges Hel's Voice receptor for his own personal army of Betrayers. Cleopatra approaches the command center with Sarge as her prisoner. Sarge is taken away and thrown into the same cell with Hel and her father. Cleopatra navigates her way through the center, finds the command nexus, and sees that the Bailies are using Hel's Voice receptor to trace Voice. She also notices Hel's backpack containing the trans plane gun, but is approached by Creegan before she can grab it. Cleopatra fools Creegan into thinking she's an actual Betrayer and he lets her go. She finds the cell holding Hel, Sarge and Carter and releases them. Carter insists they leave the complex immediately, but Voice demands that the team retrieve Hel's receptor. Cleopatra leads them to the nexus, where Creegan anxiously awaits the trace on Voice. The team hides in the shadows while Cleopatra goes after the trans plane gun. Cleopatra fires the trans plane gun at the receptor and it dematerializes. She rushes back over to the group and throws her shield around them as a swarm of Betrayers emerge. Suddenly, Carter dematerializes and Hel is furious, thinking her father abandoned her again. But just as Cleopatra's shield fails, he reappears carrying Hel's gauntlets. A firefight ensues and Carter engages Creegan in hand-to-hand combat. Creegan pulls out a futuristic knife and stabs Carter. Sarge fires shackles from her gauntlet onto Creegan's wrists and Hel tends to her dying father. She urges him to hold on but with his last breath, he vanishes. Creegan is returned to detention and the team goes back to Mauser's lab.

In Your Boots

Hel , Sarge and Cleopatra are at Creegan's trial when Marla , the former bootlegger turned peacekeeper, sentences him to death for his crimes against humanity. The courtroom erupts and the team goes to celebrate at a bar. Soon after, Voice contacts Sarge, who is now acting as team leader until Voice and Hel reestablish trust, and informs her that there's a situation with Creegan at the prison. They rush to the detention center and Creegan insists on talking to Hel alone. She enters the cell and Creegan activates a computerized mechanism concealed in a phony tooth. He informs Hel, who is now mesmerized in his presence, that he can tell her everything she ever wanted to know about Voice. Suddenly, Creegan kisses Hel. Guards rush in and separate them, but no one except Hel is aware that Creegan has just switched bodies with her. Hel/Creegan leaves with the team as guards swarm over Creegan/Hel. Sarge, Cleopatra and Hel/Creegan go back to the bar and Sarge and Cleopatra become concerned about Hel/Creegan's strange behavior. But the two figure that Hel is just dazed by her encounter with Creegan. Meanwhile, Creegan/Hel enlists the help of Tox , a criminal being held in another cell, to help him break out. Tox suddenly begins to scream that Creegan is going to kill himself and the guards flock in. Creegan/Hel grabs onto the forcefield surrounding the cell and begins to jerk violently. The guards deactivate the field and Creegan/Hel falls to the floor. Suddenly, Creegan/Hel jumps up and takes out the guards. As he tries to escape, more guards arrive and Creegan/Hel deactivates the other prisoners' cells and he escapes in a wave of confusion. Later, Sarge and Cleopatra leave Mauser's (Patrick Kake) lab to go to Creegan's execution. Hel/Creegan decides to stay behind, saying that the execution would be too much for her to see. As soon as the others leave, she begins to search the lab for anything that would reveal Voice's location. Mauser enters and Hel/Creegan blasts him with her gauntlet and hides him in a locker. Later, a riot breaks out at the detention center and Cleopatra is abducted by Creegan/Hel. Hel tries to convince Cleopatra that it's really her trapped inside Creegan's body, but Cleopatra doesn't buy it. To try to ensure her friends' safety, Cleopatra throws her gauntlets into a shaft so her location cannot be traced. Suddenly Tox and a group of escaped inmates appear and offer to hide Creegan/Hel and Cleopatra. Sarge returns to Mauser's lab and is contacted by Voice, who is extremely concerned about Mauser's whereabouts. Hel/Creegan plays off Mauser's disappearance and tells Sarge to run the surveillance hologram of Creegan/Hel's escape. Sarge notices that Creegan/Hel is using some of Hel's signature moves in the breakout and Hel/Creegan recognizes Tox and knows exactly where he would go to hide out. Sarge and Hel/Creegan find Cleopatra and Creegan/Hel, but by now, Cleopatra is starting to figure out that something isn't quite right. Marla and her men apprehend Creegan/Hel and he is returned to the execution chamber. Cleopatra convinces Sarge that something is amiss and Creegan/Hel says something to Marla that only Hel would know about. Marla grants a temporary stay of execution and Hel/Creegan goes ballistic. She storms into the execution chamber and battles Creegan/Hel. Creegan/Hel knocks the phony tooth containing the computer mechanism out of Hel/Creegan's mouth and Hel/Creegan escapes from the chamber and disappears. Creegan/Hel grabs the tooth and Voice informs Sarge that Hel/Creegan is in Mauser's lab. Upon their arrival, the team learns that Hel/Creegan has armed it to self-destruct if anyone besides Creegan/Hel enters. Creegan/Hel slips the phony tooth into his mouth and Sarge and Voice deactivate the self-destruct mechanism. Creegan/Hel plants a kiss on Hel/Creegan and the transfer is made. Cleopatra and Sarge rush into the lab, but Creegan escapes yet again. Happy to have the old Hel back, the team reassembles Mauser.

The Soldier Who Fell From Grace

Hel, Sarge and Cleopatra are in Mauser's lab when a distortion grenade suddenly rolls through the holographic door. After a moment of chaos, the grenade explodes and a wave of visual distortion ripples through the area. The team stumble around completely disoriented as two men, Marcus and Strayton , enter the lab. They wear high-tech goggles that negate the effects of the distortion and easily fend off Hel and Sarge. Marcus introduces himself as the new team leader and Strayton as his second in command. Hel and Sarge exchange a look because they recognize Marcus' name. He was the first team leader that Voice recruited when the Resistance began. Marcus tells them that Voice has put him in charge because she feels they have endangered critical Resistance missions that have nearly exposed Voice herself. Hel, Sarge and Cleopatra aren't thrilled with the new arrangements, but feel they don't have a choice in the matter. Later, Strayton removes Sarge's Voice implant and Marcus calls a meeting to go over the next mission. He informs Hel that she is now considered a security risk since she nearly compromised Voice to Creegan and the Bailies, and orders her to leave. Hel goes to her room to pack some belongings and Sarge and Cleopatra follow. To their dismay, Hel leaves the lab and Sarge and Cleopatra realize it's just the two of them now. Later, Marcus informs the team that their next mission will be to gain access to the shaft defense cannons and move them to the surface to use against the Bailies. Marcus then goes to a bar on a lower level where he finds Hel, who is looking for some relatives. He talks to Hel about how he feels that Voice's mission is to force the team leaders to listen to themselves and make them realize that they were born to serve the Resistance. After Marcus leaves, Hel is approached by Kilgannon (Peter Feeney), another former team leader. He tells her that he and other former team members are putting together their own search and destroy mission to stop Voice from getting good people killed in the name of protecting herself. Kilgannon mentions some of the fallen team members' names, and Strayton is included on the list. Hel becomes concerned because Strayton is Marcus' second in command. Kilgannon tells Hel that he saw Strayton die and Hel bolts for the door. Hel returns to the lab and Mauser informs her that the mission is already underway. She tells Mauser that she suspects Strayton is a Betrayer, but Mauser says there's no way to contact Sarge because the interference from the shaft cannon fire cuts off all communication signals. Meanwhile, Marcus and Cleopatra enter the cannon control room to gain access to the mainframe while Sarge and Strayton activate the guns. Sarge notices that the nasty welt she gave Strayton during a sparring exercise has disappeared and she realizes that he's a Betrayer. Strayton disengages the cannons and the guns retract back into the control room, trapping Cleopatra and Marcus. Marcus tells Cleopatra that the cannon recharging cycle will soon flood the room with high-energy radiation. Sarge and Strayton duke it out on the landing and Hel, driving Mauser's shaft racer, suddenly appears. She blasts Strayton and Sarge opens the gun portals. Marcus and Cleopatra escape, but Cleopatra downloads critical information about the shaft cannons into her gauntlet before leaving. The next day, Marcus disappears and Hel finds that a new Voice receptor has been implanted in her head.

No Thanks for the Memories

Sarge prepares to have a romantic evening with Krider, another former member of the Black Watch. Later, she, Hel and Cleopatra are called to a safe house room where they are greeted by Marla. The team surveys the number of dead bodies filling the room. Among the fallen are some of Marla's guards, her right-hand man Kavilo and Dylan Degaillen, a noted member of the Black Watch who was acting as a double agent for Marla. When Sarge sees Dylan, she has a quick flashback of a firefight, but shrugs it off. Marla plays the holodisc that contains the incident that killed the men and everyone is shocked to see Sarge leading the ambush. Sarge insists she didn't do it, but Marla orders that she be arrested and charged with murder. Marla continues by saying that Sarge's trial shouldn't take long in light of the evidence on the disc. Both Hel and Voice think that Marla's system of justice has become a bit too efficient and the team makes a break for the door. Marla fires a mini laser tracker at Sarge, which lodges in her back unbeknownst to her. The team disappears into a hidden level and Sarge continues to have flashbacks of her training her gauntlets on Dylan. They go to see Krider but to Sarge's surprise, Krider tells the rest of the team that Sarge said she had some old business to clear up with Dylan. Suddenly, proximity alarms blare inside Krider's apartment and the place becomes surrounded by Marla's guards. Sarge has another flashback of the ambush and the guards burst in. Instead of putting up a fight, Sarge takes off her gauntlets, surrenders, and announces that she killed Dylan. Marla removes the tracking device and arrests her. Sarge is taken away and Hel convinces Marla to scan Sarge's memories to see if they match the crime. Marla agrees, but the scan only confirms that Sarge committed the crime. Sarge is taken to a holding cell to be prepped for a cyro freeze before her sentencing. Believing that their friend is innocent, Hel, Cleopatra and Mauser break her out of prison and Marla announces to Voice and Hel that they've just started a war. The team returns to Mauser's lab and Cleopatra, with her minor in psychology, begins to hypnotize Sarge in an effort to uncover her blocked memories. What Sarge's recounting of the prior evening reveals is that Dylan was in the apartment with her and Krider, indicating that he is still alive. Sarge suddenly announces that she remembers everything. The team breaks into Marla's morgue, but much to their disappointment, they do find Dylan's decaying dead body. The team is confused, but Hel notices that Dylan's face has changed slightly from a moment earlier. Sarge notices it too and Hel sends Mauser a bioscan to run a chronometric analysis. Mauser tells them that the Dylan in the morgue is a clone of the real Dylan. Hel, Sarge and Cleopatra return to Krider's apartment and Sarge suddenly falls into a hypnotic trance. She reveals that Dylan and Krider devised a way to clone people along with their memories, and that she was cloned to be Dylan's assassin, forcing Marla to look for another mole. Sarge wakes up and Cleopatra notices that she is decaying like the Dylan in the morgue. She realizes that this is Sarge's clone and Hel locates the cloning lab where Krider and the real Dylan are holding Sarge. Sarge's clone dies and a major battle ensues. Marla and her guards suddenly arrive. They apprehend Dylan and Sarge kills Krider. Marla apologizes for the misunderstanding and the team returns to Mauser's lab.

Noir or Never

Drack, a menacing looking character who works for the Bureau of Health, chases two men through a level. One of the men escapes down a shaft, but Drack shoots the other with his weapon and brings him back to the Bureau, where he is taken to the incinerator room. Drack is approached by his boss Tooley and refuses to take the decon-injection that Tooley wants to give him. Tooley then gives Drack a data card and assigns him to track down another "thaw," a person defrosted from long deep freeze. Drack goes to a cryogenics lab and orders Cat Man to run the data card. The person Drack is looking for is Cleopatra. Before he leaves, Drack observes the lab's surveillance tapes to see who thawed Cleopatra. Meanwhile in Mauser's lab, Hel, Sarge and Cleopatra try to track the whereabouts of Marcus, a team leader who has disappeared. Mauser traces the coordinates of Marcus' last communication with Voice. Hel and Sarge go to that locale and Cleopatra goes to a nearby bar to see if she can dig up any information. Later, Hel and Sarge are attacked by two men who originally offer their help to find Marcus. One of the guys escapes, but Sarge takes the other out with her gauntlet. As they search him for I.D., Hel finds a series of red injection marks on his arm, which concerns her. Meanwhile at the bar, Cleopatra is approached by Drack, who becomes completely mesmerized by her. Nonetheless, Drack trains his weapon on her under the table. Suddenly, Drack is hit from behind by the "thaw" who escaped from him earlier. A fight ensues, but Cleopatra knocks the "thaw" unconscious with a bar stool. Tooley and some Bureau of Health drones enter the club and Drack tells Cleopatra to leave immediately. He again refuses to take the decon-injection from Tooley and tells him that he has no leads on the female "thaw." Meanwhile, Hel and Sarge pay a visit to Sluggo and find that he has possession of Marcus' gauntlets and a satchel of his personal items. They return to Mauser's lab with Marcus' belongings and meet up with Cleopatra, who recounts what happened at the club. Hel tells Cleopatra that the Bureau of Health has become an overzealous group and nobody knows what they're really up to now, considering there hasn't been a health epidemic in over fifty years. Cleopatra returns to the club to see if Drack is still there so she can pump him for information. Upon her arrival, she is thrilled to see him. Sparks fly between the two and Cleopatra returns to the lab. When she enters, security alarms blare and Mauser finds a tracking device on Cleopatra's dress. The team leaves the lab and Drack soon turns up. He tells them that the Bureau is now going after and terminating "thaws" to prevent the outbreak of any 21st century epidemics because no one has the natural defenses to fight those illnesses any longer. They all soon decide to go back to Muaser's lab so Mauser can create a vaccine from Cleopatra's immunities. Hel and Sarge run ahead and as soon as Cleopatra and Drack are left alone, Tooley and his drones arrive. Tooley fires his weapon at Cleopatra and she falls to the ground, and Drack is knocked unconscious. Meanwhile, Hel and Sarge realize that Marcus must have been a "thaw" as well, and Sarge notices through Drack's tracking device that Cleopatra has stopped moving. The two take off to go find their friend. Later, Cleopatra and Drack wake up in the Bureau and Tooley takes them to the incinerator room, which is actually a lab. The bodies of many "thaws," including that of Marcus, are suspended from the ceiling and Tooley, now playing the role of mad scientist, tells them that he's genetically engineering a plague and its vaccine. Drack helps Cleopatra escape with the canister containing the disease and Tooley and his drones take off after her. Cleopatra, Tooley, Drack, Hel and Sarge all converge at the club where Drack and Cleopatra met, and Tooley is apprehended. Later, Mauser begins to create a vaccine from Cleopatra's immunities.

The Voice

A Confessor goes to see Creegan on Death Row an hour before his scheduled execution. He tries to get Creegan to release his sins, but Creegan simply tells the Confessor that when he dies, the world will die with him. Confused, the Confessor listens to Creegan talk of his obsession to destroy Voice. Meanwhile, unbeknownst to anyone, accept for Creegan, a swarm of Bailies blacken the sky on the surface of the earth. Creegan continues by telling the Confessor about the time he took the guise of Voice to turn two of her best teams against each other. Hel, Sarge and Cleopatra are in Mauser's lab when Creegan, who is manipulating his voice to sound like the Voice, informs them that one of the other teams has turned against the cause and must be neutralized at once. With Creegan's guidance, the trio makes their way to an abandoned level. They set up an ambush in an old bar and the other team, led by Quint, soon arrives. A massive firefight breaks out and Sarge quickly recognizes Quint. He and his other team members, Lara and Porter, become pinned down and Creegan tells Quint to eliminate Hel's team. The battle resumes and Quint and his team manage to escape from the bar into a back room. Cleopatra wants to talk to Quint and find out what's going on, but Hel and Sarge insist on following Creegan's orders. Later, Quint climbs into a ventilation shaft to look for an escape route. He makes it to another part of the level and is approached by Cleopatra, who reluctantly acts as a diversion while Sarge captures Quint. Hel tells Creegan that they've secured the other team leader and Creegan instructs Sarge to kill Quint. Creegan prompts Quint to mention Sarge's sister Lily and Sarge becomes convinced that Quint is still communicating with Voice. Sarge, Quint and Cleopatra return to the bar and tell Hel that her receptor is tapped and that the Voice she's hearing is an imposter. Hel is about to believe them when Lara and Porter burst out of the back room firing their lasers. The battle resumes and Creegan becomes ecstatic at the prospect of these two teams blowing each other away. Creegan then tells the Confessor that he made the mistake of referring to Hel as ŒHelen,' which gave away his identity. When Creegan finishes his story, the Confessor begins to probe him with a multitude of questions, which signals to Creegan that this is not a Confessor at all. Confessors are only supposed to listen, not challenge. Creegan suddenly realizes that he is face to face with the person he's been looking for all this time Voice! As the Bailey armada begins its attack on the surface, Voice morphs into her female form and reveals that Creegan is actually a five hundred year-old "thaw" from the 21st century. Explosions rock the prison corridors and Creegan is taken to the execution chamber. Voice begs him to tell her who leads the Bailies, but Creegan shocks her when he confesses that his real name is George Bailey and that he created the Bailies five hundred years ago to act as environmental control units. He explains that the creatures eventually grew minds of their own and decided to wipe out the human race. Creegan is strapped to the execution chair and dies. Voice contacts Hel, who is on the surface amid the chaos, and orders her to proceed with the counter-attack. The final battle for the fate of humanity begins.
