Pilot

Ronnie learns that Bryce is cheating on her again, but can't find it in her heart to leave him. Leo breaks more bad news that Ronnie's body is not what it used to be and is no longer suitable for appearing on the company packaging. Ronnie's halfhearted attempt to get in shape fails, so, as a last resort, young female models are brought in so she can select the body she'd least mind seeing her head pasted on top of. After a tabloid story about Bryce sleeping around hits the papers, reporters stake out Veronica's Closet trying to get a scoop on Ronnie's and Bryce's rocky romance. Unwilling to act on Olive's and Pat's advice to get even with Bryce by having affairs of her own, Ronnie instead sets up a faux romantic dinner for her and her husband to fool the press into believing the two are still happily married. But the discovery that Bryce slept with the model who's soon to be her body double finally puts Ronnie over the edge and gives her the courage to come clean and walk out on him.

Veronica's Woman Friend

Perry writes a press release with a made-up word in it, because he can't think of a synonym for "increase." Josh is bothered when Ronnie believes Perry's new word is real, but he completely loses it after the word spreads throughout the media. Her impending divorce aside, Ronnie returns to her roots as the 'Queen of Romance' by helping Leo propose to his girlfriend, Tina. Ronnie needs help of her own from Olive after she begins to miss Bryce. Olive tells Ronnie now that Bryce is gone, she has more time to spend with her women friends, but Ronnie's comment that she doesn't have any women friends upsets Olive as much as Perry's gibberish words have been upsetting Josh. Leo picks a less-than-opportune time to propose - he asks Tina to marry him while she's in the middle of an orgasm. Ronnie realizes her friendship with Olive is lacking due to faults on both of their parts; Ronnie is self-absorbed and Olive doesn't like to share things about herself. When Ronnie tries to make things up to Olive because she wants to have a woman friend, Olive invites her over to her place after work to get to know each other better. Tina accepts Leo's hand in marriage after he asks her again while they're not doing it.

When Leo thinks one of the company models is carrying around some baggage in her pants, Perry admits he once dated her and sets out to prove he didn't make out for twenty minutes with another guy. Bryce sneaks into Ronnie's apartment and tries to win her back, but she throws him out. After Ronnie turns away the press in regards to their trial separation, Bryce goes on national television and milks sympathy like there's no tomorrow. Ronnie has a change of mind after USA Today conducts a poll where 73% of the country was gullible enough to want her to take Bryce back, and she schedules an interview with Entertainment Tonight to tell her side of the story. Perry feels Ronnie should beat Bryce at his own game and cry a few crocodile tears for the press so the public sympathy vote will tilt in her favor. She can't cry during the interview, though, making Ronnie believe she is over Bryce. Olive weasels a private office bathroom out of Ronnie, but it's not very private after the builder knocks out the waterline to the main restrooms, forcing everyone on the floor to use Olive's executive washroom.

Veronica's Not Happy About the Book

Bryce stages an all-out power play after Ronnie surprises him with a copy of his forgotten prenuptial agreement - which he wishes he hadn't gotten her to sign as he hasn't worked in the past decade, and Ronnie's been the breadwinner since then. First, Bryce maxes out all of their credit cards and empties out their joint bank accounts. Then, Ronnie pays Bryce back by calling up the police and reporting his car stolen. Finally, after Bryce gets out of jail for heisting his own car, he retaliates by filling Ronnie in on his plans to write an embarrassing tell-all book about their marriage. Knowing Bryce has got her where he wants her, Ronnie pleads with him not to write the book, but he'll only agree to that if she'll tear up the prenup. After bartering with each other, Bryce allows Ronnie to pick five humiliating things he'll leave out of the book in exchange for her beach house. Leo confides to Olive that he'd like to design lingerie, but his designs are so awful, Olive tells him he needs to dress like a woman before he can design clothes for a woman. At first resistant, Leo soon gets into ladies' panties more than anyone (including Olive) expected.

Although Tom is a perfect date and then some, everything he does reminds Ronnie of Bryce, making her wonder if it's too soon for her to see other men. Ronnie longs to be depicted as a Barbie, and doesn't see eye-to-eye with Karen's and Olive's role model vision when the Veronica Chase prototype doll rolls off the assembly line with hips bigger than Cleveland. Leo warns Perry about "dating a family" in regards to Suzanne, though Perry insists he's ready to be a father. Pat and Ronnie have it out when Ronnie gets jealous after he starts dragging Louisa along with him on Ronnie's rides. Olive convinces Ronnie not to back out of her agreement by convincing her that little girls are going to love her doll, and will learn to be strong and independent from it. But that couldn't be further from the truth when a focus group of children hates playing with the miniature Ronnie. As evidenced by the fact that she's having a bastard baby in the first place, Suzanne isn't ready to enter into a long-term commitment and ends things with Perry. Pat puts his differences with Ronnie aside and comforts her after the test group response causes the toy company to eighty-six her doll.

After Ronnie turns down Pat's request for a 25% raise, Pat leads Leo out on a strike. Leo lies to Ronnie that he doesn't really want to strike and is only doing so because it means so much to Pat. Ronnie buys it and gives Leo his raise - for Pat's sake. Ronnie turns to Perry for advice on how to get Griffin to break up with her. Desperate for a famous escort to rival Bryce's, Ronnie is relieved to hear Perry managed to snag Kevin Costner. Then she tries to rescue her date after Costner's publicist cancels on the little self-pleasurer. Along the way, Ronnie accidentally reveals to Leo that Tina dated Perry before him. Ronnie calls a plumber, only to find out it's Nick, a lecherous guy she went to high school with and had a secret crush on. Nick uses Ronnie's recent separation to make his move on her. Just when she's about to score, Ronnie's lawyer visits with the news that the judge has thrown out the prenup. As soon as he hears that Ronnie is dating again, he warns her that his whole argument hinges on how Bryce is a womanizer, while Ronnie hasn't had sex with another man in years. Since Ronnie is a horrible liar, it doesn't bode well for her case to stand trial if she hasn't been faithful. But poor, deprived Ronnie will have to choose between finally getting a piece of Nick, or losing her case - and upwards of $600,000 - to Bryce. Perry is grossed out by his girlfriend's insistence on wearing old, torn panties, and gives her some new underwear. Upon seeing that she's still wearing the same old tattered knickers, Perry confronts her. She confesses that they're her lucky panties, and bad things happen when she's not wearing them. Perry tells the others about his crazy girlfriend's panty superstition, but Leo reminds Perry that he's got an obsession of his own - he can only get dressed if he puts his clothes on in a certain order. Ronnie eventually gives in to temptation and sleeps with Nick. Lucky for her that he's a plumber; he was so bad in bed, she basically flushed $600,000 down the toilet.

When Ronnie meets with the constantly sparring couple and sees how much they hate each other, she goes against Josh's wishes and reaffirms that they were right to call it quits. While Perry and Leo hunt for affordable apartments, Olive tells them that her friend is giving up a great one for a budget price and they can move right in. The catch is that it's an illegal sublet so the landlord can't find out. Perry and Leo love the apartment - until they meet a quartet of mean-spirited old neighbors who blackmail the two into doing gross favors for them or else be reported to the landlord. Unable to stand rubbing senior citizens' backs and giving them sponge baths, Perry and Leo have no choice but to move out. After seeing them at each other's throat, Josh understands that his parents' divorce is for the best, and he makes up with Veronica.

Veronica tries to smooth things over between the two, but Alec says he won't forgive Josh until he gets his apology. When Josh refuses to, Veronica makes him take a temp job as Perry's P.R. assistant. In the meantime, Ronnie does all she can to make sure Alec does not fill Josh's old position. Olive hooks up with Jimmy, an old political beau from college, but is disappointed to find out he no longer stages protests or helps fight causes anymore - and that he's basically a fraud. He attempts to convince Olive there's no point in trying to make a difference these days. To show him that there is, Olive "liberates" all the animals in a petting zoo and hides them in her apartment to spare them from cruel petting. She gets arrested and irrationally thinks that will help her cause. Josh finds Perry's job a complete joke, so Perry puts Josh on the spot and has him handle one of Perry's P.R. clients for him. Josh learns the hard way that his complete lack of tact and inability to brown-nose makes him thoroughly unsuitable for what Perry does. Weighing the options, Josh throws a B.S. apology in Alec's direction and takes his old job back.

When he returns, Ronnie cancels their date to attend a charity ball together, claiming that she made arrangements with somebody better. Alec sees her story for the crock it is and says he plans to go stag, just in case Veronica gets "stood up" and needs a backup. With a little detective work, Leo is able to track down Nicole's home address. Perry rushes right over to her place to have her cut his hair for him, but begins to have second thoughts when she violently confesses to him why she left the salon - she was fired for being looney-toons. Justin chooses Alec over Ronnie and tells her to take someone else and go without him. Justin is understandably confused when he finds out why Alec wanted to see him: to offer him his half of Veronica's Closet. Alec comes clean and lets Justin know his only reason for doing this is to make Justin miserable and working with the woman you love day in and day out is sure to do that. Veronica gives Justin's ticket to Olive, but Olive's enthusiasm for the musical diminishes after she recognizes a man performing on stage as an old boyfriend who ran out on her without saying goodbye. While gossiping about the guy, Ronnie and Olive annoy Josh so he makes a bogus report that they stole items from the theater's concession stand and an usher throws them out. Veronica is bumped from the Guinness Book of World Records after somebody beats her childhood one for the World's Longest Paper Airplane Flight. Desperate to be the best at something, Ronnie tries to reclaim the record, only to discover she can no longer throw paper planes as far as she previously could. Perry doesn't want to visit his senile grandfather in a nursing home since he doesn't recognize Perry anymore. After Leo tells Perry he should go anyway because it's family, Perry makes Leo go with him. His grandfather still doesn't know Perry from Adam, but he does remember Leo - as his long-dead wife who's "come back to him." A noise-sensitive guy moves into the apartment below Josh and Chloe and makes sure to let the two know how much he hates noise by banging loudly on the ceiling and yelling at the top of his lungs to keep it down. Josh is atypically spineless; Chloe deliberately stomps on the floor to tick their new neighbor off. After she's irritated the situation as much as possible, Chloe forces Josh to confront the man. Perry resorts to drastic measures to let his grandfather remember him ... he wears his childhood ducky hat and breaks into a round of "The Quack Quack Song" that his grandpa sang to him as a kid. The equal and opposite reaction: Gramps instantly recognizes Perry but no longer "knows" who Leo is. Josh is relieved to find out the angry neighbor is a virtual clone of himself - right down to a girlfriend who tells him what to do - and they get even with the bossy females by faking a violent confrontation. As Veronica unsuccessfully looks for new records to break, June convinces Ronnie that she is funny and should impress Guinness with her sense of humor. Ronnie comes up with the not-so-bright idea to tell the most jokes in record time. She almost accomplishes this one, but blows it in the final minute when the judge rejects what would have been the record-breaking joke (one of Veronica's own painfully-unfunny creations) as a pun. Furious at the judge that she has to wait another year to try out again, Ronnie flings a stream of curse words at him. This gets her into the Guinness Book ... as the World's Most Vulgar Woman.

Veronica's Candy Panties (a.k.a. Veronica's Sticky Situation)

Veronica can't shake an obsessive, deranged blind date whose romantic gifts include chocolate roses, raw meat and dirty videos of himself. A rival lingerie company comes up with a Valentine's Day gimmick of musical panties that play "My Funny Valentine" when you stretch them. Leo suggests to Ronnie that Veronica's Closet should outdo this by putting out candy panties with a heart-shaped surprise in the middle that's "a little snackage for your package." Josh suffers anxiety attacks when Chloe springs the news on him that her father is entering the witness protection program and their marriage will have to take place within two months. Veronica finds a nest with a pigeon's egg outside her window ledge and brings it inside. Olive flips out when she sees Ronnie touching an unhatched egg and makes herself surrogate mother to save the bird from abandonment. A story on the Internet gives Olive the idea to incubate it in a strange place - between her boobies. The candy panties don't turn out so sweet when their little heart-shaped surprises (made of chocolate and conveniently placed in the panties' backseat pouches) had to ride over in a very hot delivery truck, melting them and making it look like someone ... well, you know. Olive has to go to an important meeting and gets June to breast-sit for her, but a fowl version of the Baby M story results after June goes into labor, hatches the young pigeon herself and wants to keep it. In an effort to stop Josh from having a nervous breakdown, Chloe hires Kevin, a crackerjack wedding coordinator, to take some of the weight off. Perry acts as mediator in the bitter bird custody battle and Leo saves face with Veronica and redeems the company when he comes up with a new Valentine's Day novelty: the break-up panty.

Veronica bumps into Tom again, realizes she regrets dumping him and wants to rekindle old flames. Tom finds out Ronnie is in the market for new bookshelves so, rather than have her buy them from a catalogue, asks if he could build her a set. Veronica doesn't need to think too hard about that one. Perry talks Leo into going half on an expensive DVD player for Josh and Chloe's wedding present; that way, Leo can finally be the one who gives the cool gift. Josh and Chloe are eaten up with jealousy when they hear Kevin is coordinating other weddings besides theirs. Later, they are eaten up with disgust upon opening Perry and Leo's gift - a used dictionary wrapped up in a DVD player box. Josh's and Chloe's obsession with Kevin becomes a bit too scary, culminating in Kevin washing his hands of the two of them. Josh confronts Perry and Leo about their insulting gift, letting Leo put two and two together that Perry (who bought it off a less-than-reliable street dealer) pulled a $600 boner. While Josh and Chloe try to win Kevin back and Perry tries to get Leo to forgive him, Tom works day and night at Veronica's apartment providing her with ample opportunities to get him into the sack. Ronnie then wants to give Tom the sack when he presents her with a bill. For $10,000 a confrontation arises and the two on-again, off-again, on-again lovebirds agree on a compromise; she can pay him whatever she wants to. Perry burns down the kitchen in his and Leo's apartment, leaving them in need of somewhere to stay. June mentions she has one vacancy available. Perry beats Leo to the offer and believes this is his chance to get her into bed. Ah, Perry - always Mr. Gracious. Chloe is out of town so Josh lets Leo shack up with him for the time being. Leo seeks to be Josh's best man after his first choice bails, but Perry doesn't feel Leo is that good a friend to Josh. Good friends should, after all, push each other out of the way so they can be the one to snag the first apartment offer that comes along and stuff. Brian pays Josh an untimely visit, at least for Leo, as it happens smack in the middle of his subtle attempt to sway Josh into asking him to be best man. Apparently, it was too subtle; Josh thinks Leo suggested he ask Brian and Josh plans to do just that. Ronnie discovers Tom's apartment isn't so much an apartment as a college frat house. Strike 1. And he has a Harley Davidson look-a-like roomie called, appropriately, Spaz. Strike 2. Perry isn't any happier to meet June's roommate, Roger, since the two are sleeping together and that puts a bit of a damper on Perry's plans to sleep with her. Leo learns at dinner that he really doesn't know Josh better than Brian does, so he graciously forfeits the race. Ronnie and Olive go to Tom's rowdy beer keg party where only Olive enjoys herself. June and Roger have a falling out after he convinces himself she's riding the hobbyhorse with Perry. Perry starts to use the opportunity to be the rebound guy with June, but her crying brings out some actual sensitivity - or something - in him.
